January:

Ag Expo

AG EXPO is a combination of several events tied into one venue, which assures wide appeal for people of all ages. There is an educational "ag alley" which includes a mini farm that targets youth but is enjoyed by all ages; a junior livestock show, a miniature cow show, a trade show, and an Agricultural Awards & Legislative Appreciation Luncheon which recognizes regional agricultural leaders and legislators.

February:

Krewe of Janus Grand Mardi Gras Ball

The Krewe of Janus is hosts their Mardi Gras Grand Ball at the West Monroe Convention Center. Live music and a cash bar will kick the Mardi Gras season off with a bang. Bring your friends for all of the fun!

Children’s Mardi Gras Parade

Children up to age 10 are invited to walk, roll or ride with the Krewe of Janus at Pecanland Mall. Trophies will be awarded in 3 divisions for the float competition. Individuals ages 0-4, Individuals ages 4-10 and Group. A grand prize trophy will be awarded for the best entry. For more info call 732-7229. We hope to see all of you there! This is a FREE event!

PAWS of NE Louisiana presents: Annual Krewe of Paws Pet Parade 2016

See a twist on the traditional Mardi Gras festivities with pets of all sorts in costumes and floats rolling through Antique Alley, and of course plenty of beads!

Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade

It's that time of year when king cakes are enjoyed, beads are thrown and the music is loud, it's Mardi Gras 2015! Join the Krewe of Janus in the parade. Families will marvel at the spectacular floats and colorful creations!

March:

Junior League of Monroe's Spring Market

Spring is on it's way and with it comes the Junior League of Monroe's Spring Market, sponsored by Community Trust Bank. The Market opens with the "Shop 'Til You Drop" event Along with Spring Market's signature event, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun!" includes catering, entertainment,& door. Bring the family, the girls, your friends, your wallets and more because each year's Spring Market is sweeter than the last! March can't get here soon enough!

Trey Altick Louisiana Prep Baseball Classic

This baseball tournament is hosted annually, and it brings a lot of heart to our community. Over 40 teams from the area compete in the tournament, in honor of Trey Altick. He was a baseball player at Neville High School who died tragically in a watercraft accident. However, his memory lives on through this tournament and the impact his life made on our local area. Proceeds from this tournament go back into the participating schools’ baseball programs as well as to the many charity organizations that the Trey Altick foundation supports.

Cajun BMX National

Some of the fastest amateur BMX racers in the country make their way to the Ike Hamilton Expo Center for USA BMX’s Cajun Nationals competition. The full National circuit is made of 29 competitions, and this is one of its early stops. Over 900 competitors race throughout the weekend. The ages of the contenders range from 3-75 years old and include girls, boys, men, and women.

April:

Landry’s Concert Series

This event is the perfect combination: live music, good food, a stunning venue, and delicious wine. With a wide range of musical genres and multiple concerts throughout the spring, there is a concert for everyone. Bring a blanket or some chairs, grab a bottle of Landry’s premium wine (or their berry bellini, they’re amazing), and sit back and enjoy the concert. This family friendly event is a perfect Saturday night getaway.

Biedenharn Symposium

Spring has sprung at this event. Every year, the Biedenharn hosts a weekend full of gardening displays, landscaping classes, and a plant sale featuring the infamous Peggy Martin Roses. Hang out in their beautiful gardens while learning tricks of the trade from pros, researchers, and more!

May:

Crawfish GatorFest

The 2nd Annual Louisiana Crawfish & Gator Fest is held at The Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe. This is a great event to bring your family and friends to enjoy great food, carnival rides, shopping, and live entertainment. This will be a fun-filled 4 day event for all to remember from all areas of the ArkLaMiss to come enjoy the best crawfish and experience live Gators for your entertainment.

Louisiana State Games

The Louisiana State Games (LSG) is a sports festival created specifically for amateur athletes. Patterned after the Summer Olympics, the championships will consist of a variety of sports that will provide the opportunity for all amateurs to participate and vie for titles and a chance to compete at the national level. All residents of Louisiana and Arkansas are eligible. Residents from those states attending school or serving in the military in other states are also eligible.

AA Open House

During the first weekend of May, stroll Antique Alley and shop till you drop with music, food and fun. This event combines over 40 unique shops with a fun, festival-style atmosphere. Each store will have refreshments for their guests and exclusive sales for this day only. Live music will be playing, and interactive activities will be taking place along the street.

June:

Miss Louisiana Pageant

Women from around the state compete for the prestigious Miss Louisiana title. Three nights of preliminaries take place before the televised final on Saturday. Root for your favorite competitor or be dazzled by them all!

July:

The CenturyLink Star Spangled Spectacular! Fireworks Show

It's time to celebrate America's independence! The annual Independence Day fireworks display is best viewed from downtown Monroe, or close by. The fireworks are shot from the center of the Endom Bridge! Display begins promptly at 9:00 pm, so don't be late!

 

2D Sports Northeast Baseball Shootout

A baseball tournament circuit that stops in Monroe-West Monroe every year. Come watch these teams compete for the championship!

August:

Grape Stomp Fest

A spin on Landry Vineyards’ typical concert series, this event celebrates the harvest of their grapes with a grape stomp and a Lucille Ball look-a-like contest! Guests can relax in the vineyard and listen to live music, or they can join the grape stomp. T-shirts can be purchased for stompers to put their grape-juicy footprints on. It’s a great family event!

Zoobilation

This exciting event takes place at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo. It involves a burger cookoff, fun run & 5k, music, food, vendors, and fun for all ages. Proceeds benefit the Louisiana Purchase Zoological Society.

Battle of the Badges

September:

Ark-La-Miss Fair

Every year, the Monroe Civic Center parking lot turns into a fun festival with rides, fair food, vendors, and a petting zoo. The week-long event is perfect for families. It also includes live music and face painting. All proceeds benefit multiple charities in Northeast Louisiana.

Cotton Stakes Cutting Classic

This nationally ranked horse cutting show takes place every year at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center. Of the 2,000 cutting shows in the nation, this one ranks in the top 15. Professionals, novices, and amateurs come from across the country to compete in this competition. Spectators will be treated to a full week of well-trained horses and disciplined riders showing their hard work.

October:

NELA Celtic Fest

This festival is held in Kiroli Park in West Monroe, La. Admission is free, making this the perfect affordable family friendly event. It features a traditional lineup of Celtic artists and includes the Scottish Highland Games along with traditional Irish Step Dancing.

North Delta Food and Wine

Participate in the 5K Dash-N-Dine/Walk-N-Wobble timed walk/run that comes with food and libations. The walk/run starts at Warehouse No. 1 restaurant and goes across the Ouachita River and through Downtown Monroe & West Monroe areas. Then, head over to Bayou Landing for A Rare Culinary Collaboration. Locals and visitors intermingling among tremendously talented celebrated chefs from across the Gulf South and representatives of the top wine and beverage brokers as well as craft beer enthusiasts and brew masters in an aromatic room filled with live music, laughter and delicious delicacies. Holiday Events at RiverMarket

Enjoy this destination to shop and gather on the picturesque Ouachita River. This french-style market has a variety of culture, education and entertainment. A holiday wonderland with ice skating, snow, make and take ornaments, cookie decorating, and special visits with Santa! Don’t miss the talking and singing Tree-Jays, an interactive light display that the kids will love at the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum.

December:

Christmas on the River Festival weekend

What better way to get in the spirit of Christmas than with two parades, a spectacular ­fireworks display, festive ballet performances, and fun activities for the entire family? See the dancing light displays on Antique Alley and throughout Downtown Monroe & West Monroe, as well as Christmas at the Biedenharn and Santa’s Christmas Village at the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum.

Twin City Ballet and Louisiana Delta Ballet

Each year, a major highlight of the Monroe-West Monroe Christmas season is the beautiful performances put on by each of our local ballet companies. Louisiana Delta Ballet and Twin City Ballet each create original shows that display the beauty and strength of their talented dancers. With past shows like Christmas in Neverland and A Christmas Adventure featuring Buddy the Elf, a fresh, new take on Christmas is presented for all ages.
