Destination Service Specialist
The Destination Service Specialist will provide the appropriate skills needed to ensure that the organization is running smoothly and efficiently. The Destination Service Specialist serves as a liaison from the tourism bureau to the visitor that visits the community. The Destination Service Specialist will collaborate with the Director of Operations and the tourism bureau team for special projects and organizational strategic initiatives as needed. This position reports to the Director of Operations and serves as a member of the Discover Monroe-West Monroe team.
Core Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the first impression of visitors by carrying out duties in a professional, friendly manner
· Works with all departments to meet the needs and servicing for conventions, sporting events and special events.
· Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the attractions, accommodations, and services available in the area to visitors, acts as a liaison between these entities and the visitor.
· Assist with tourism marketing making calls on local businesses to keep current information for marketing the area.
· Answer and route all incoming telephone calls.
· Greet and provide service to visitors.
· Maintains orderliness of the lobby area, conference room, storage area, work area, and tourism information.
· Perform general clerical activities as needed including postage and shipping tasks.
· Receive purchases and deliveries to the DMWM, maintaining appropriate paper documentation.
· Assist with maintenance of inventory on all printed materials and supplies in storage facilities as well as tourism literature and convention service materials.
· Assist in preparation of event materials, such as nametags, gifts, services, etc. in a timely manner.
· Responsible for running errands throughout Ouachita Parish as needed by the DMWM.
· Assist with special events as needed.
· Performs other duties not listed as assigned by President/CEO & Executive Team.
Position Specific Core Responsibilities:
· Assist with scanning in QuickBooks
· Assist with maintenance of inventory on all printed materials and supplies in storage facilities as well as tourism literature and convention service materials.
· Assist in preparation of event materials, such as nametags, gifts, services, etc. as needed.
· Receive purchases and deliveries to the CVB, maintaining appropriate paper documentation.
· Assist with special events and special projects as needed.
· Assist Office Coordinator with staff recognitions, such as birthdays, weddings, etc.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 2 years’ with clerical work experience
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Great customer service and interpersonal skills
· Able to use and understand the telephone system, postage system and office equipment
· Able to communicate effectively with the public
· Basic computer skills – E-mail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook
· Professional appearance and demeanor on the phone
· Good driving record
