Jackie Rosenberg is President of Sol’s Pipe and Steel in Monroe. His father Sol Rosenberg (February 2, 1926 – January 30, 2009) was a Polish -born American businessman and philanthropist. He was a Jewish survivor of the German Nazi concentration camps who became an industrialist in Monroe where they established Sol's Pipe and Steel Company.
Jackie will speak about his father’s experience during the Holocaust and reference the book Sol’s Story: A Triumph of the Human Spirit by Dr. Richard B. Chardkoff, a former ULM historian. This book tells the story of Sol Rosenberg’s trials and triumphs.
This program is presented in conjunction with the current exhibition Theo Tobaisse: Textural Emergence. Tobiasse was a Jewish teenager living in France during the Nazi occupation of the city in World War II. He survived by hiding in an apartment with his family for two years. His work reflects his experiences and his Jewish faith.
