Wagon Rides

The holiday lighting in Monroe and West Monroe is growing brighter each year. We are offering our residents the opportunity to take a special ride through our most illuminated areas of Christmas lighting in the Landry wagon, which holds approximately 30 people. Wagon provided by Landry Vineyards. The tour will begin at Commerce and Wood Streets of West Monroe, travel down Trenton to Wood Street, then N Riverfront Street, over the Endom Bridge, driving straight on Desiard Street turning onto S 6th Street and on to the Monroe Civic Center. We will return via Calypso Street to S Grand, driving by the NE Children’s Museum on Walnut and returning via Louisville Avenue and the Lea Joiner Bridge (see map). Rides will begin on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29 evening and will happen every Friday/Saturday until Christmas. The rides will begin at 5pm and will end at 9pm, with each trip taking about 30 minutes. We are looking to start a new trip every 40 minutes which should allow 6 trips per night. The schedule currently is for the following dates: Friday/Saturday – November 28/29 Friday/Saturday – December 5/6 (Outgoing route changed to Lea Joiner Bridge due to fireworks on Endom) Friday/Saturday – December 12/13 Friday/Saturday – December 19/20 Children are required to be accompanied by an adult.

Kansas City Southern Holiday Express

The KCS Holiday Express will make a stop in Downtown Monroe. Before the train arrives, kids’ activities will start at 2:00pm. Meet and greets with characters such as a magician, Ninja Turtles, and two of the Frozen characters will be available from 3:00pm-5:00pm! There will also be refreshments and food available for purchase. Then, the train will arrive at 4:00pm! Don’t miss this festive six car train featuring the smiling tank car “Rudy;” a flatcar carrying Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, and a miniature village; a ginger bread boxcar; an elves’ workshop; the reindeer stable; and a little red caboose. Guests are invited to tour the train and visit with Santa! At dark, "The Polar Express" will be showing outdoors. This event will be great for the whole family!

An A Cappella Christmas

When counting the days to Christmas, a visit to the RiverMarket in Downtown Monroe is a fun experience for little ones. We will have special programs geared for children that will appeal to the whole family as well. Here, right on the Ouachita River, you can find bounce houses, a lunch with Santa Claus at 11:30am, a Christmas pet parade, and fireworks as well as many children clothing vendors. The First Baptist Church in Downtown Monroe will join us with their choir for a beautiful holiday performance at 4:30pm. At 5pm, the Downtown River Jam will begin at the river walk with great live entertainment. Downtown River Jam will be followed by fireworks on the Endom Bridge.

A fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, poses as a boys’ band organizer and leader when he arrives in River City, Iowa. After conning the citizens into buying non-existent instruments and uniforms, his plans are to skip town with the cash, but he falls in love with Marion the librarian who transforms him into a respectable citizen.

Wagon Rides

The holiday lighting in Monroe and West Monroe is growing brighter each year. We are offering our residents the opportunity to take a special ride through our most illuminated areas of Christmas lighting in the Landry wagon, which holds approximately 30 people. Wagon provided by Landry Vineyards. The tour will begin at Commerce and Wood Streets of West Monroe, travel down Trenton to Wood Street, then N Riverfront Street, over the Endom Bridge, driving straight on Desiard Street turning onto S 6th Street and on to the Monroe Civic Center. We will return via Calypso Street to S Grand, driving by the NE Children’s Museum on Walnut and returning via Louisville Avenue and the Lea Joiner Bridge (see map). Rides will begin on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29 evening and will happen every Friday/Saturday until Christmas. The rides will begin at 5pm and will end at 9pm, with each trip taking about 30 minutes. We are looking to start a new trip every 40 minutes which should allow 6 trips per night. Children are required to be accompanied by an adult.

New Year's Eve Bash

The second annual New Year’s Eve Bash will be held on December 31st at Ouachita Grand Plaza. This night will be filled with live entertainment, dancing, good food, spirits, and a ton of fun.
