The Mu Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is glowing for a cause by raising awareness for prostate cancer and men’s health. September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month, and the fraternity is inviting the community to light up the night during the Check. Listen. Recovery in Motion 5k Run/Walk
The Northeast Delta Human Services Authority is hosting a free community event called Recovery in Motion 5k Run/Walk for National Recovery Month. The race is taking place Sept. 19, 2026, at 104 Chenier Lake Dr., West Monroe, La, with recovery organizations, nonprofits and community resources on-site. Sign up here.
MAD Dash 5K: At MAD Dash 5k, participating runners are (M)aking (A) (D)ifference for cancer patients. The 2nd Annual MAD Dash 5K & One-Mile Fun Run is happening September 26, 2026, at Forsythe Park in Monroe. Online registration will close on Sept. 20, 2026, and in-person registration is available during packet pickup on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25, 2026. “A Walk to Remember” Pregnancy & Infant Loss 5K: “A Walk to Remember” Pregnancy & Infant Loss 5K celebrates the lives of babies gone too soon and comforts grieving families with compassion, encouragement and support. Love Like Olivia 10K/5K: Lace your running shoes up for the 2nd Annual Love Like Olivia 10K, 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run at the Monroe Athletic Club. This race expresses that every mile has a meaning. Olivia was a baby that lived for 51 beautiful minutes, and her life continues to make a lasting impact. Proceeds from the race will support the creation of a state-of-the-art birthing and bereavement suite at St. Francis Medical Center. The run/walk is scheduled for Oct. 24, 2026. Race for Renewal: Support a community day shelter by taking a walk or run! The 3rd Annual Race for the Renewal benefits The Renewal Center of NELA, assisting individuals experiencing homelessness in the community. Early registration is currently open through Oct. 15, 2026. Fall into Recovery 5K: Help people who are making the effort to transition into sober living. Fall into Recovery 5K supports those who are continuing their recovery journey after treatment. The race is put on by Pecan Haven Addiction Recovery Center, which provides residential substance abuse treatment for men and women seeking freedom from addiction. Monroe Jingle Bell Classic: This race brings in funds for local Scouts in Northeast & Central Louisiana, including programs for at-risk youth and scholarships to Camp T.L. James and Camp Attakapas. The Monroe Jingle Bell Run 5K and Half-Marathon embraces an active lifestyle that benefits the youth. The price to participate will increase after Dec. 18, 2026.
