Get Involved in the 2026 NWBA National Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Monroe-West Monroe
Basketball fans and community champions mark your calendars! The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) National Championship Series is coming to Monroe-West Monroe this March, and our community has a chance to be part of this unforgettable experience. This milestone event brings together some of the top wheelchair basketball teams in the nation for two weekends of this competitive, inspiring sport at the West Monroe Sports & Events facility. It’s more than a tournament. It’s a celebration of athleticism, resilience, and community spirit.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of adaptive sports or looking for a meaningful way to give back, there are several ways locals and regional visitors can get involved. From volunteering your time to cheering from the stands, here’s how you can participate:
Volunteer and Make a Difference
Volunteers are a cornerstone of the NWBA Championships — and you don’t need to be an expert in wheelchair basketball to help! A central volunteer registration is open for the duration of the event (March 18–29) where you can express interest and be placed in roles based on your skills and availability. Volunteer duties can include:
Greeting arriving teams and officials at the airport
Assisting with scorekeeping and game clocks
Welcoming guests and helping with wayfinding at the venue
Supporting hospitality areas during tournament breaks
This is a great way to connect with athletes, meet fellow community members, and be part of an event that showcases both competition and camaraderie.
Sponsor This Exciting Event
If you’re a local business owner or represent an organization, sponsoring the NWBA National Championship Series is a powerful way to support adaptive sports while gaining exposure. Sponsorship levels range from Championship Partner ($5,000) which includes prominent branding, center-court signage, and VIP access to Community Supporter ($250), which offers recognition on event materials and social media. In-kind sponsorships and tailored packages are also welcome.
Sponsorship not only helps make the event successful but also connects your brand with thousands of athletes, fans, families, and visitors that will travel to Northeast Louisiana in March.
Attend and Cheer Loudly!
One of the simplest ways to support the NWBA Championships is to attend games. Whether you’re coming for a single day of competition or planning to cheer for teams throughout both weekends, your presence boosts the energy and makes the event more memorable for athletes and their families. Tickets and passes are available with options for daily, weekend, and family admission.
This is adaptive sport at its highest level — wheelchair basketball is fast, fierce, and inspiring. Bring friends, coworkers, and kids to experience the action firsthand.
