Last Blast in Monroe-West Monroe Before School Starts
Coming off from summer break and heading into a new school year can be exciting for children. They’re wondering who their new teacher will be, if they’re going to share the same classroom with their friends and stepping into new levels of academic learning. Monroe-West Monroe has different fun activities for visiting families with children to send off into the 2025-2026 school year. It’s our destination’s way of wishing them a year of success!
Zoo Oasis: We’re sure your kids won’t mind getting a little wet at the Zoo Oasis, which is known as the Splash Pad at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo! While you sit on the bench, they can cool down by walking through the waters during a fun late morning or afternoon. With a zoo admission fee, this is a free activity for children before taking a full tour of the zoo.
Sunken Gardens at Kiroli Park: As a family, you can take your kids to Kiroli Park and find this new attraction called the Sunken Gardens. While walking down into the garden, the kids will enjoy strolling along the mini trail only to find a small water fountain, gardens, and benches to sit and take a picture for your 2025 summer vacation family album.
Bayou Bowl: Have your children practice or show off their bowling skills at Bayou Bowl. This bowling alley is already planning to give kids the time of their lives before they head back to school. When they make those strikes, they’ll have something to brag about to their new teacher!
Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge: Explore a natural scenery at Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Families can easily access activities like nature birdwatching, paddling, hiking, and fishing. A nature trail boardwalk is free open to the public, surrounding the lake and Wildlife Pier.
Aviation Park & Pavilion at Chennault Aviation and Military Museum: The Aviation Park & Pavilion can be found outdoors at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum! This outdoor pavilion consists of a display of seven restore military aircraft. This is a fun opportunity for families and their children to have a close look at history that was once in the sky.
SkateTown: Put on your skates and blades with your family and friends at SkateTown at the Monroe or West Monroe location! Watch the ceiling light up as you jam to music and roll on the floor. Grab your favorite snack at concessions, enjoy a mini arcade, and if you go to the West Monroe location, buy a goodie to take home as a “Last Blast Before School” souvenir.
