Sadé Johnson
Q: Can you tell us a little about your craft and how you got started?
A: I got started making soap when I got tired of going to the doctor for scented soaps. They'd irritate my skin so badly that eventually the doctor knew exactly why I was there. It was frustrating and embarrassing. I finally decided to create my own.
Q: What does a typical day in your studio or workspace look like?
A: I always start my day with coffee! Then I head to the warehouse and prep everything I need for that day’s production. After lunch, I usually wind down with office work and admin. Then it's family time—I play with my baby and enjoy the evening.
Q: Is this your full-time job?
A: Yes, it is!
Q: Where do you find inspiration for new scents and collections?
A: I pull inspiration from the seasons, my environment, and honestly, how I’m feeling. I usually create seasonal soaps. For example, I'm bringing back my Southern Peach soap for the summer season. It did really well last year, and people love it.
Q: Tell us more about your signature scent.
A: Southern Peach is a custom blend of peaches and magnolia. It's definitely a fan favorite, it’s light, sweet, and feels like summer in the South.
Q: Any other best-sellers?
A: Yes! Bourbon is very popular, and people also love the exfoliating coffee bar and the honey oatmeal soap.
Q: How has being part of the Monroe-West Monroe creative community influenced your work?
A: Honestly, I didn’t know there were so many creatives here until I stepped into the environment. It’s inspiring to see people right around the corner making extraordinary things. Being surrounded by that talent pushes me to keep growing.
Q: What advice would you give someone just starting out?
A: Keep going. It’s going to get hard but just keep going. Keep the faith, trust the process, and always remember your "why." If you stay focused on that, it’s impossible to stop.
Q: Where can people find your work?
A: You can shop online at jubilantsoapsetions.com. Locally, my products are available at The Good Daze, The Makery, The Revival, and the MLU Airport Giftshop. I’m also on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok @jubilantsoapsetions.
