Delta Biscuit’s Holiday Hot Chocolate
Makes about 4 cups — perfect for sharing (or not!)
Ingredients:
Hot Chocolate
3.5 ounces of your favorite dark chocolate bar
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
5 tablespoons cocoa powder
5 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Peppermint Cream
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
Instructions
1. Make the hot chocolate
Roughly chop your chocolate bar and set aside.
In a saucepan, warm the milk and cream over low heat - gently, without letting it boil.
Once hot, add cocoa powder and sugar. Whisk until smooth with no lumps.
Gradually whisk in the chopped chocolate until completely melted and silky.
Add vanilla extract and slightly increase the heat. Whisk for 2–3 minutes until you reach your desired richness.
Remove from heat and let it rest while you prepare the topping.
2. Make the peppermint cream
In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Add powdered sugar and continue whipping until fully incorporated.
Mix in vanilla and peppermint extracts until smooth and fragrant.
3. Serve & enjoy
Pour your hot chocolate into your favorite holiday mug and top generously with peppermint cream.
