Monroe-West Monroe Mardi Gras season is here! For the first year ever, the party takes place on two weekends. The newest addition to our Mardi Gras is the Krewe de Riviere, rolling on February 8, 2020, with a day full of carnival festivities. Next, the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade rolls for its 37th year on February 15, with more to do. Choose the weekend that works for you, or do both!

Theme: The Roaring 20's

February 8, 2020

10:00 am - Mardi Gras Madness with Krewe de Riviere

Start your carnival celebration on the Ouachita River at the RiverMarket. Food trucks, activities, and music will get the good times rolling on Saturday! Shop local artisans and vendors for unique gifts! This event starts at 10:00 am and lasts until 4:00 pm. 

1:30 pm - Little Miss Mardi Gras

The RiverMarket hosts the first annual Little Miss Mardi Gras Pageant! Don your sparkliest beads, silkiest purple dress, and fluffiest feather boa. Mardi Gras is all about doing the most! Don't miss this chance to dress your little princesses in fun carnival attire. All girls are welcomed to compete up to age 15. Check-in begins at 12:30 PM and the pageant starts at 1:30 PM. The deadline to register is January 31st!

5:00 pm - Krewe de Riviere Mardi Gras Parade

This brand new krewe brings a second Mardi Gras parade to Monroe! Experience a traditional parade with floats, walking groups, riding groups, parade throws, and a roaring 20's theme. Twirl in your flapper dresses, and pop on your bowler hats for this grand extravaganza. This event starts at West Monroe High School and ends at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.

6:30 pm - Krewe de Riviere Ball, The Roaring 20's

Going out with a bang, the Krewe de Riviere hosts a glamorous ball at the Monroe Civic Center. Continuing with the Roaring 20's theme, this event with Joe Lastie and the New Orleans Sound will be entertaining us and we have a special surprise for the night. Photo booth and Professional photographer will be on site!


Krewe of Janus' 37th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration

Theme: The Magic of Fairytales

February 15, 2020

10:00 am - Krewe of Janus Children's Mardi Gras Parade

Once upon a time, the cutest Mardi Gras parade rolled at Pecanland Mall's Center Court. This free event kicks off the day's celebrations with the cutest mini-Mardi Gras floats and even cuter riders. The theme is The Magic of Fairytales, and the Krewe of Janus' king and queen will join the party! Complete with beads, candy, and other throws. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the first 100 participants receive a goody bag!

11:00 am - 14th Annual Krewe of Paws Mardi Gras Pet Parade

Experience the Magic of Furry Tales! Antique Alley in West Monroe will be filled with pets of all shapes and sizes ready to roll in this year's parade. All pets are welcomed, even those with feathers and scales! This event features food trucks, vendors, and music! 

3:00 pm - Jester Jog 5K

Run a portion of the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade route and back through downtown West Monroe in your Mardi Gras-themed outfits! The crowds will already be gathered for the parade, so many will cheer on our race participants as they run past. Finisher beads for everyone as well as age/gender metals! Enjoy King Cake after the race. Participants will gather in Alley Park located on the corner of Trenton and Natchitoches Street. The race begins at 3:00 p.m.

6:00 pm - Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade

A storybook ending to a day full of Mardi Gras festivities, this parade is the big one! Floats, marching bands, beads, and fairy tale costumes all come together! The parade begins in West Monroe and ends at Oliver Road in Monroe.
