DMWM Launches Volunteer Site for 2026 National Wheelchair Basketball Association Championship Series

MONROE-WEST MONROE, La. – Discover Monroe-West Monroe is launching its volunteer site for the 2026 National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Championship Series, happening at the West Monroe & Sports Events facility this upcoming spring.

Organizations across Northeast Louisiana can now sign up to be NWBA Championship volunteers. DMWM is accepting volunteers age 17+. Volunteers may sign up as individuals through the site. Volunteer opportunities include wheelchair transport, scoreboard operator, hospitality worker, event greeter and airport greeter.

Interested volunteers will be able to record their skills while completing their account. Example skills consist of food prep, clerical, physical labor, education, technology and more.

Volunteers are needed during the scheduled championships on March 19-22 & March 26-29 and during the para-athletes’ arrival dates at the Monroe Regional Airport. Arrival dates of the para-athletes will be communicated to scheduled volunteers who wish to be an airport greeter.

These volunteer roles serve as an opportunity for local organizations to engage in team building, build relationships with wheelchair basketball players and get to know Monroe-West Monroe as a growing accessibility destination.
