West Monroe Gar Rodeo presented by Honey Hole
A gar rodeo is a unique fishing tournament focused on catching one of Louisiana’s most ancient and rugged fish - the gar. Anglers compete in various divisions like jug fishing, pole fishing, bowfishing, and even youth categories. Whether you’re on the water or cheering from the shore, a gar rodeo is a wild ride through local fishing culture.
Prize Money – Bowfishing (Numbers and Big Three) – 100% Registration fees go towards prize money
$200 added to categories: Youth Gar and Youth Catfish
$400 added to categories: Jug, Pole, and Catfish
$500 added to Overall Big Fish
Exciting New Category for 2026 – Numbers Only Bowfishing – Compete to see which boat brings in the most gar.

- Schedule of Events:
- 6:00 PM: Fisherman Registration in Alley Park
- 6:30 PM: Captains' meeting in Alley Park
- 9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: Late Registration
- 12:00 AM - Midnight Weigh In
- First 100 pound fish to be weighed in before midnight wins a Turtlebox speaker
Saturday, August 29th
- Schedule of Events:
- 7:00 AM: Bowfishing Numbers only Weigh In at Lazarre Park.
- 10:00 AM: Big 3 and Overall Big Fish Weight In at Lazarre Park.
