Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge is just the place to go to get in touch with nature. This 4,500 acre wildlife habitat is home to some of the best nature views in Northeast Louisiana. Rent a kayak and get an up-close look at the wildlife in the lake or walk through the forested wetland. Grab your binoculars because this is one of the best places to go birding in Louisiana.
Restoration Park and Kiroli Park in West Monroe are a local favorite when it comes to getting outdoors for a walk. Their walking trails make for a peaceful stroll through nature. Bring your bike and get adventurous on Kiroli Park’s biking trail.
Monroe-West Monroe is home to some great local musicians and lucky for you, fall is lined up with some great musical performances. Ouachita Live Concerts run the last Friday of September and October in Alley Park. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and spirits. The best part though? The concert is free!
Wine and live music - it doesn’t get much better. Landry Vineyards hosts concerts throughout the fall season and they are not to be missed. Hear live music by local bands, sip on delicious wine, and eat from local food trucks. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie the day away.
Did you really celebrate the fall season if you didn’t purchase a pumpkin? Monroe-West Monroe is home to two great Pumpkin Patches. Grab a friend, bring your camera, and snap some pictures while there - they’re the perfect backdrop for your fall Instagram post. If you’re looking to get a little creative, enter the Discover Monroe-West Monroe pumpkin decorating contest and let your artistic side shine.
Make plans to view the Scarecrows at the Biedenharn Museum and Gardens. Local organizations decorate scarecrows in hopes to win the Greater Ouachita Golden Pumpkin Trophy and let us tell you, the competition is fierce.

For some, fall is all about football and we’re okay with that! The University of Louisiana at Monroe comes alive for Football Saturdays. Head to Malone Stadium and watch the ULM Warhawks compete in the Sunbelt Division. Get to the game early and tailgate in the Pecan Grove. Go Hawks Go!
